OryCon 22 - Gordon Van Gelder, Editor GoH

Gordon Van Gelder is the editor (since 1997) and owner (since October 2000) of the venerable Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction. His time there has included publishing several Hugo award nominees, as well as Hugo nominations himself for his editing.

Before buying F&SF from its long-time publisher and owner Edward L. Ferman, Gordon was a book editor for St. Martins Press, splitting his time between F&SF and St. Martins. During his dozen years as a book editor he edited such books as Ammonite by Nicola Griffith (OryCon 21 GoH), and was the in-house editor for Gardner Dozois's (OryCon 18 GoH) Year's Best SF series and Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling's (Westercon 2001 GoH) Year's Best Fantasy and Horror series.

Gordon also served six years as an editor and book reviewer for the Hugo-nominated New York Review of Science Fiction. A native New Yorker, he lives in Manhattan.
