Jim FiscusThe winner of the Endeavour Award for a book first published during 2000 will be announced at OryCon Friday night immediately after opening ceremonies. The Endeavour Award honors a distinguished science fiction or fantasy book, either a novel or a single-author collection, created by a writer from the Pacific Northwest and first published in the year preceding the award. An honorarium of $1,000.00 accompanies the Award. The five finalists for the Award are:
The judges for the 2000 Award are Dave Duncan, Elizabeth Hand, and Michael P. Kube-McDowell. A total of 28 books were entered for this year’s award. Each of the books was read and scored seven times by preliminary judges, with books assigned randomly to readers drawn from a pool of approximately 30 experienced readers. We will also have a full list of all 28 books at OryCon. Please buy the books and read them. (You can start with the finalists listed above.)
