It was 1978, and there wasn't a lot to celebrate. After all, 1978 is when Jim Jones encouraged 900 people to commit suicide.
But there were a few positive signs. 1978 is also when Jimmy Carter brokered a "Framework for Peace" between Egypt and Israel.
And best of all, the prelude to OryCon, "OryCon 0" was held Nov. 11 1978.
